Cong to hold statewide dharna on Aug 5

Hyderabad, August 1: Congress will organize dharnas on August 5 in the State against price hike in petrol, diesel, gas and other essential items, financial recession, unemployment, Agnipath and other issues.

TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy said asked the party leaders and activists to stage protests and dharnas across the State. He said that Congress will fight from village to national level against hike in GST on essential items.

Revanth said the State incurred heavy loss of about Rs 2,000 crore due to huge floods and heavy rains. ‘Several crops were damaged in about 20 lakh acres. But still, neither the Centre nor the State government is responding. Both the government have miserably failed in extending support to the victims,’ he criticized.

The Congress leader demanded the government payment of compensation to the damaged crops and to extend financial help to the families of the deceased in the floods. He gave a call to the leaders and cadre to participate in the dharna in large numbers and to hold large scale agitations in the State.
