Zero tolerance for corruption in pension distribution: CM Chandrababu

In Andhra Pradesh, social pensions were distributed a day earlier than scheduled. As December 1 falls on a Sunday, pensions were delivered door-to-door today, November 30. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu participated in the pension distribution program in Nemakallu, Anantapur district, personally distributing pensions to households.

Chandrababu visited the house of Bhagyamma, a differently-abled woman, in Nemakallu. He inquired about her family’s situation and handed her a disability pension of ₹15,000. He also visited the home of Rudramma, a widow in the same village, and gave her a pension while learning about her well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, Chandrababu remarked, "I personally distributed pensions at the homes of two women. I wish for people’s happiness to be permanent. We are providing better pensions to ensure widows and the differently-abled live with dignity."

The Chief Minister emphasized, “Supporting marginalized groups is the goal of the coalition government. We have fulfilled our election promise by increasing pensions and paying them retrospectively from April. It was NTR who introduced pensions in Andhra Pradesh. Currently, we are providing pensions to 64 lakh people in the state. Over the last five months, we have distributed ₹18,000 crore in pensions.

We have also introduced the option to withdraw pensions once every three months, which benefits laborers and workers among the pensioners. Andhra Pradesh is the state providing the highest pensions in the country. I have made it clear that not even a single penny of corruption will be tolerated in pension distribution.

There are many ways we want to help the poor, but challenges remain. The five years of YSRCP’s rule paralyzed systems. First, we need to repair those systems,” Chandrababu explained.

“I had promised farmers here that I would ensure water for their crops. I also committed to transforming Rayalaseema into a land of prosperity. In the last elections, people made thoughtful choices. Anantapur district holds a special place in my heart. Rayadurgam is one of the most backward areas, and we have taken measures to prevent it from becoming a desert. We are committed to bringing light into the lives of Rayadurgam residents.

We spent ₹4,500 crore on the Handri Neeva project and ₹12,500 crore on projects in Rayalaseema. Completing the Nemakallu project is our responsibility,” he assured.
